We are happy to announce that Library Take Out service will be available starting this week, and customers with current June book club bookings can arrange to pick up their sets, if they wish. If you have a June reservation, Library staff will contact you to book a pickup date and time.

If you prefer to cancel your booking, you may log into KitKeeper and cancel your booking (you will need your library card and PIN). Please note that customers who didn't make their reservation through KitKeeper will need to call us at (905) 579-6111, ext 5219 to cancel.


Are you in a book club? We have the perfect service for you! Our Book Club in a Bag service allows you to borrow 8-10 copies of one title from a variety of bestselling authors for FREE. All you need is a valid Oshawa Public Libraries card! Titles may be booked directly through our online reservation service KitKeeper.

Frequently Asked Questions


How do I reserve a book club set?

  • The group leader must have a valid Oshawa Public Libraries card.
  • Each item in a set is checked out on the group leader’s library card for 6 weeks. The group leader takes responsibility for the set’s return.
  • Bookings may be made up to a year in advance by
    • Using our online reservation system KitKeeper
    • calling (905) 579-6111, ext. 5219
    • visiting your nearest service desk
  • Up to two sets may be checked out at one time.

To use KitKeeper:

  1. Click KitKeeper and log in (you will need a valid OPL card and your password/PIN).
  2. Once you are in KitKeeper, choose one of the three options for searching the collection:

    List: Click Go to browse a list of titles before you select. Reserve: Select a title from a dropdown menu and then click Go. Dates: Select the month you need a set from the dropdown menu and then click Go.


  3. After you choose your option, follow the screen prompts to reserve your kit. If you’d like to pick up your set in the next 7 days, please call us at (905) 579-6111, ext. 5219 to reserve your set.
  4. Enter your contact information. You must provide an email or phone number. If you do not have one of these contact options, please click the “Unavailable” link next to the phone or email fields.
  5. You will receive an email confirmation that the reservation has been placed.
  6. You will receive notification when your Book Club in a Bag kit is available for pickup.
  7. Click on My Kits to manage your reservations.

How do I pick up my set when it’s ready?

  • You will receive a phone call or email when your book club set is due to be picked up.
  • You may pick up your reserved book club sets from your library branch’s main desk.
  • All items in the set (including the pamphlet) must be checked out at your library branch’s main desk.

Once we’re finished, how do we return the set to the library?

  • Complete sets must be returned to the main desk inside any Oshawa Public Libraries’ branches. Please return the set in the bag you received it in.
  • Please do not put them in the book drop.
  • There are no renewals on sets.
  • Leaders are responsible for ensuring that their group members return their books promptly.

What happens if my set is overdue?

  • Each item in the set incurs a fine of $0.10 for each day it is overdue.
  • If a set is returned late, overdue fines will be charged to the group leader’s card for each item in the set.
  • If a set is returned incomplete, the missing items will incur overdue fines on the group leader’s card until they are returned.

What happens if items in the set get lost or damaged?

  • If an item from a set is lost or damaged, the leader will be billed for the replacement cost of the item plus a $6.00 non-refundable processing fee per item.
  • If an entire set is lost or damaged, the leader will be billed for the entire set, including the bag, plus a $6.00 non-refundable processing fee per item.
  • The replacement costs of the sets depend on the cost of each particular item.
